I seem to keep ending up somewhere between systems neuroscience, data analysis, translation, and criticism. I am finishing a PhD at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, where I study how rapid locus coeruleus dopamine signals tune hippocampal dynamics during memory-guided navigation. The project moves between experiments, Python analysis pipelines, and computational modelling: a biological question translated into a system one can perturb, measure, and argue with.
The rest of this site follows the same instinct. I write about books, films, games, and records; translate science and literary non-fiction into Chinese; and make one-person prog and art-rock as amoxitoxin. The common thread is structure: how a brain circuit changes the timing of an action, how a novel teaches one to read it, how a record earns its release, how a sentence finds the exact pressure point.
I am graduating in December 2026 and looking for data science roles in Europe, especially work where modelling, careful analysis, and careful writing belong in the same room.
